is it just me,or what,i have bought 3 c5 "s in the last 5 years a 99 ,a 2000 and another 2000,every one of them had the oil pressure sender unit go bad and the dealers charge you at least $350.00 to change it,is something wrong with this picture?are the sending units defective, should chevrolet recall them and maybe relplace these damn things for free, anybody finding the same thing happening,or know of something going on to help us poor vette owners correct this problem,,
Had mine replaced last week. This is by far the most common problem on these cars. The dealership installed the newest version of this sending unit, under warranty. Hopefully this will work out. I agree with a recall on these sending units. This is as bad as the column lock issues. I guess, since there are no Safety issues with the sendor unit, GM does not care

OUCH! For around $30 you can purchase the sensor. Just lookup here how to remove your intake manifold and do it yourself and save $320!
I just bought a 2000 FRC and noticed that my guage was pegged at 80, and the computer guage reads 129. I presumed false reading on at least one of those, but after reading this thread, I see this is a VERY common problem.
However, I have one question because I haven't seen the answer. Once the oil pressure sender has been replaced, what should be the correct (normal range) oil pressure reading on my car?

Hey barney ? The correct pressure would be the amount of pressure that is occuring lol When the sending unit fails you either get false no pressure reading or false off the chart pegged out.

Yes. The A.I.R. check valve behind the rear of the intake manifold. There are two on the car, and this one is a PITA without removing the manifold. The other one very easy. BTW, the part is very inexpensive.
Also, I would recommend NOT replacing the EOP sensor with yet another Delco. There have been too many issues with their replacement parts failing also. I used the PS-308 made by Standard Motor Products and bought it through www.rockauto.com It has held up fine for over two years now. HTH
