Need Help with front leak identification
While my car (04 C5 6 speed) was out of the garage the past 2 days getting a new targa top seal I noticed some drops of very sticky fluid on my garage floor in the front middle of where the car sits. I could not determine the type of fluid but it is dark and very thick and sticky. I just got the car home and climbed under and noticed the rear of the oil pan where it meets the bell housing has a fluid leak. Is this a rear main seal problem? If so wouldn't that be an oil leak? This stuff seems thicker, any help as to what this could be? The oil pan bolts were not very tight so I tighened them a little since I don't know the torque specs on these and I only have a ft lbs torque wrench. I also tighened the bell housing bolts (2 lower horizontal) just a tad.
