Even if it was an XER it would work with 1.8's as per Mark Campbell at Crane cams, but you stated 'should' use. 1.7's or 1.8's are fine. Springs sould be 130 lbs seat pressure and not run into coil bind at .615 lift for the exhaust lift on an XER. So if you use an XER cam with hardened seats then a .030 shim would make your installed heights 1.74" and still not run into coil bind on the 832 duals from crane.
I measured the installed heights with the hardened seats and it was 1.77 on a stock head.

Thanks, I think the Cam is an XEr per A & A Website! You guys in this forum ar sharp!
That's my Cam! hah, if it is the comp xer 220/224 it comes with 530/534 ish lift as made and that is what you will get with stock ratio rockers (1.7)
1.75= 550 ish lift Go with LS6/2 valve springs or comp 918s.
1.80= 565 ish lift Might scrape by with LS6/2, should get comp 918s.
1.85= 580 ish lift Comp 918s or better yet 921s.
