Trying to change the AIR check valve at the back of the manifold. I currently have it off to replace my Oil Pressure sending unit that went bad last week.
Anyway, F+*&ing thing won't come loose. I have a wrench on both fitting and I'm pulling in the right direction, but it just won't let go. I've sprayed the hell out of it with penetrating oil and WD-40 still with no results.
If anyone else has changed this puppy and has a way to get it loose, I'd love to hear it at this point.
Well, in the mean time, I'm off to the stealership to see if the have the sending unit. Bast%&ds gave me the wrong one when I went in last week. (None of the local parts shops have elected to stock them)
Murphy is alive, well, and living in my garage this weekend apparently.
If penetrating oil didn't work the only other thing I can think of would be to apply a bunch of heat to it.
Best of luck. I hope I never have to replace that valve. It has got a be a B#$% to get to back there.
Thanks,
I had the same thought. guess I'll try some heat on it. Have to careful though, Its right up against a wire bundle. Off to visit Murphy in the garage.
Got it! The magic combination was a 1" crowfoot with a long handle ratchet and a breaker bar. Man that bugger was rusted on there. Went back on significantly easier than it came off. I cleaned the threads first of course.

Glad you finally got it. I hope you smeared a little anti-seize compound on the threads before installing the new one. That will keep Mr. M away from you, at least on that part anyway. Hey, 'ya just never know, right?

There's antiseize in that baby now. Murphy came back for a brief visit when I checked the Intake manifold gaskets / rubber rings. They were badly flatspotted. Calls to every parts shop in town yielded no new gaskets. evetually found them at NAPA in a town 50 minutes away. An hour before closing time of course.
Its all back together and runs great now. Thanks for the help guys!
