Default Low coolant warning

I have a 1997 C5 that is showing a "Low coolant warning" on the DIC. Coolant level looks fine, temperature is normal, and car runs great. My guess is the sensor is malfunctioning. Here is where I'm looking for some help. Is there a way to clean this sensor? Ha Ha. Or should I just replace it? Also I'm guessing its location, seems like it should be on or around the coolant resevour. As always, thanx for any tips that help rectify this issue

If the design has not changed since 97, you will have to replace the whole reservoir. I don't think the sensor is available as a separate item.

I have the same problem with my 1998.

I think I read here that its a common problem with the early C5. Mine usually comes on when the car is pointed down hill but does not happen every time.

Don't know if the sensor can be replaced but I think the fix is to buy a new tank which will be an improved design used on the latter C5. I think they are less than $50. I'm plannig on buying a new tank.

I have a 99 and the same problem. Almost always happens when car is parked with the front pointed downhill but hasn't ever happened when front is pointed uphill. It's annoying but at least you know it's just the sensor.
