Default Royal Purple Oil...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well today I changed oil and filter in my '97 C5. (with 57,405 miles)
I'm now using Royal Purple 10w30 synthetic and K&N HP1007 oil filter.
In the past I have used Mobil1 and Castrol synthetic oils.

The reasons I went to it is because it claims a HP and torque gain and oil change intervials are 12K miles. Recommending changing oil filter 3k to 4k and top off with the Royal Purple oil.

So with the use of Royal Purple oil; what can I exspect to see with it's usage?

Keep an eye on the filter. The first ( & last ) K&N filter I used had the housing leaking, very slightly. Oil was blowing back on to various parts. I was getting a burning oil smell.

My 96 LT4 saw a 5hp gain from changing to Royal Purple in engine and diff and Castrol in ZF trans. My 02 Z06 was just changed over to RP in engine, trans and diff - saw a 3hp gain. Actual dyno results, before/after. I'm sold on the stuff!

Could it be from over tightening due to the nut base on the bottom? I've been using them without leakage.

That is interesting since I use the purple stuff in my engine, trans and differential, plus I added the hood seal should be good for gobs of hp with my blower setup

I only use that nut to remove them.

that is a real good deal..PepBoys 10w30 is $5.99 a qt X 7 (takes 7 for oil change) and $12.00 for the filter. Do the math.

Your oil filter should be hand tight only.

Couldn't find the Royal Purple ATF, but I have the Royal Purple Max Gear in my diff, and RP oil in the engine. For the trans, I went with the Mobil 1 synthetic.
