I have been outside all night trying to track down this issue but I cannot seem to find the cause. My #6 fuse (tail lights/dashlights/parklights) Keeps blowing over and over again. It used to be when I hit a tiny bump and it would pop. I've retraced and check all wiring inside the car. I've had almost the entire dash out and see no wires that could be contacting. Is the switch itself grounding out?
I noticed after I tilted the steering wheel up it started poppin the fuse when I simply turned on the lights now. Every time. Turn em on and 1 second later you can hear it pop. Should I start looking elsewhere for wires that could be contacting? Has anyone had this problem over and over again and has a solution? I'm becoming frustrated with it and could use another outlook on this problem for anyone else who might have been here.
Thanks in advance. I'll try to answer any questions for info on my end as I can.
I'll bet that the wiring harness for your light switch/turn signal/dimmer switch unit has a shorted or broken wire in it. The wiring harness for this assembly runs down through the steering column to a connector just below the dash. This harness gets bent every time you adjust your tilt wheel.
I had a problem with my light switch not working sometimes and it turned out to be a broken wire in this harness.
I tried all of the above and still found nothing. I really don't want to pay a dealer for this so any other ideas would be wonderful. I took the whole dash out and found no naked wires.

Any flattened/smashed appearing wires through the steering column or down by the brake pedal switch?

Not that I could see or feel. I had the entire front end of the dash, console, 'waterfall', passenger seat, underside of the dash, steering column trim. And found nothing. Even had an ASE Master Tech in there with me looking. We both couldnt find it
if it happened after you moved the column,i would look at that harness inside the column.other than that the only place else to look is the park/illumination lights,if you had twightlight sentinal,it should pop as soon as the lights popped on.fuse 6 is live all the time[30power]and supplys power to the switch all the time, when you go to park lights the fuse blows.start by splitting the car.disconnect the foward light harness in the r/f near the horn, turn on the lights,if the fuse doesn't blow, problem is in the foward lamp harness.next, disconnect the rear lamp harness in the right rear[rear lamp harness]and retest,if the fuse doesn't blow, problem is in the rear.if the fuse still blows.you've just eliminated the parking lights, move to the interior lamps.if it's a a4 it goes to the shift lock illumination.you'll have to check the rear veiw mirror, passenger side airbag deact.switch in the glovebox[if you have one],radio,hvac,cluster,fog/hatch switch.still more than likely a bad switch.
Alright I found the issue. So I figured I would update everyone on it. Seems a wire loom to the tail lights had fallen down onto the pass side muffler, melted and was grounding itself out on the muffler. Spliced and replaced the bad wire and all is good now. Thanks for everyones insite.
