Default check engine light! P1416

I drive my 1998 cusomized corvette every single day (long drive to work and back) i have 110,000. on her now with out a single break down. what a great car!
however.
the check engine light is stuck on right now
the code is P1416 and it is in there twice? (autozone) checked my codes for me for free.
i dont want to take it to the dealer and have them charge me
over $1000.00 to get it out and after that have other things go wrong
(i dont trust them)
i think it has not broken down so far because i have never let the dealer touch it
but i dont no what this is? help.please!
is this somthing i can fix.

i dont even know what P1416 is please tell me you guys know all about it and it happens all the time and you know the easy fix..please

P1416= air system bank 2( passenger side)

What that means?I am not totally sure, but I 'll bet it has something to do with the emmissions

Sorry, that's as much as I know

Here's a link for the codes in the future dic codes

I believe that's the code for the air check valve on the passenger side. Which in reality, the valve is cramped in between the engine and firewall. It's emissions related, but your car is still perfectly driveable. I've had the code many times. Do a search and you will find some threads with pictures. The part is about $25. But to replace it you need to take the manifold off to reach it. I was quoted about $200, just to take that off. But many say you can do it by yourself.
What you can try doing is taking the the drivers side airline/check valve off and spray some carb cleaner and WD40 in the line. That should clean and lube the valve so it will open and close properly.

Here's a thread with some good links

I have had this code come up a couple of times... no worries, you can drive on it... Its the passenger side check air valve, its probably stuck... what you can do is check if the hoses are kinked at all, this is the hose that comes out from the air filter on the drivers side and goes to a pump.

Next time you can check your codes yourself... hold option and press fuel 4 times... youll see it ... to erase it just hold reset

The check air valve is about $15 at NAPA.

I have this code also, and it drives me CRAZY . I HATE THAT Service engine light! It seems to me if this code is emissions related that the dealer should fix it under warranty (Don't emissions related parts have a 100k warranty?) Sorry, just looked and it wouldn't help the original poster "low flier"

Hello, Low Flier:

Here is a solutionary response I posted some time ago to help those afflicted with the notorious trouble code 1416, resolve their air check valve problems. And, YES! I can attest to the fact that you can certainly replace the passenger side air check valve without removing the manifold. Simply follow my brief instructions on this topic. Here is the link:

Best Wishes to you.
