Hey guys, what kind of floorjack do you all use for your Vettes? Mine is not small enough to fit under and need to get my new tires on. Thanks for the help.
What ever hydrolic jack you choose, make sure you support the car with something that can't fail! I use a cheap scissor jack right next to my hydrolic, just in case. You can use a jack stand also.
I just had a Sears "professional" 3.5 ton just crap out on me after a couple years use. Went back for the 2 ton low profile and I like it much better. You want real quality, they can be big $$$.

I just bought the "complete car jack set" at Costco. It's great and it even matchs my vert. $105 with tax. Low, light weight, comes with jackstands, and a two piece creeper.
drive up on one or two stacked 2x 12's
cut the approach end on a 45 degree angle.
If you use two have the bottom one about 18 inches longer than the top ( also bevel its lead edge) nail or screw them together.
It will be a lot cheaper than buying a new jack

That's a good idea. I'm going to build a set whild I'm waiting for the snow to melt. You can put a handle from a screen door on the side to carry easily. Thanks for the tip.
yep got a nice Alum jack at costco... still have to drive up on 1x4 to get it under the front but it works great other then that..
sears and harbor freight have good ones too..
My son has the one from Harbor Freight. He says that the spring and valve assembly sticks once in a while and it's a pain. He talked to the guy at Harbor who admits that it's a common problem. Other than that he loves it. He has a lowered rice burner that he street races.
I bought a low profile BigRed aluminum racing jack at Pep Boys. Came with two matching jack stands, on sale for $140. Works great.
However the front of the car is a bit low now to get at the front jacking point. Now I have to start with jacking up the rear first, dropping it, and then coming around to the side. Then I am barely able get at the front rocker jack point.
PS I always use a hockey puck on the jack pad. When using the jack stands, I place a puck on top of them also.
Big Red low profile, 1.5 ton jack and billet stands from a well known online company $199... easily fits under lowered Corvette... unfortunately it's made in China... but as well made as any I've seen.
A slick way of jacking you car up is 2 cheap aluminum 1.5 ton jacks for the sides. Homier has the same type jacks for $79. One 2 or 3 ton jack for the rear cradle. Put the BMW 3 series jacking pads in the shipping holes, these jacking pads stay in full time. Than when you need to change just put the jacks under and pump.
Changing tires/rotors/pads for AutoX or HPDE is quick and easy, both before the events, at the events and cleaning after. Having an enclosed trailer helps.

Holy Crap!!! This is the same one at CostCo that I just bought. It comes with the aluminum jack, two jackstands, and a two piece creeper, all in the red color. Cost was $105 with tax. Looks like I finally got a deal!!!!
