Default Z51 Question

Will Hotchkis Sway Bars, Bilstein Sport Shocks, and an Elite Tunnel plate be a significant upgrade to the Z51 suspension?

I may be wrong but from what I have read yes that set up should be quite a bit stiffer than your Z51. I think it will be a little to stiff for me so I will likely go with a ZO6 setup. Hope this helps some!

I added the Bilstein Sports to my Z51 (as well as lowered it at the same time) and it made the ride significantly increased the stiffness of the ride. Not harsh but not as forgiving as it was with the stock shocks.

I am unsure if I indeed do have the z51....I am going to check in about 2 hours...

Anyways, the car is lowered on the stock bolts in the front, and on a set of CorvetteGarage bolts in the rear. The car as it is right now rides very firm, and sometimes I may say it is even harsh. Will the bilsteins and the afore-mentioned items in combination make a difference as far as absorbing more of the bumps and reducing the harshness of the ride? Also, I heard that the bilsteins were better suited for lowered cars. Thanks, Nick.

I'm not able to definitively tell what firmed up my ride, the lowering or the Bilstein Sports since I did both at the same time. I would venture to say it was the shocks that did it so I would expect a somewhat firmer ride.

The sports are suited for lowered cars though because of their shorter rod length.

If you lower you car on the stock shocks, you're taking out travel and that will cause your car to ride stiffer...

yes that will be quite an upgrade. If you do decide to go with that upgrade PM me about those Z51 swaybars. I might take them off your hands.

nikolai,

Are you changing the suspension for auto crossing or road racing? Or, is yours a street driver?

What is about your current suspension that you don't like?

I have the Z51 package, lowered on stock bolts, with the 04 Z06 shocks. I think its perfect for street driving. It firmed up the ride a bit but provides better feel. I wouldn't go any stiffer than the Z06 shocks.

it is currently a street driver, but I may be looking to do some autocrossing/roadracing this year. Due to the fact that I cannot find anything indicated anywhere on my car about a z51 suspension, then I highly doubt that I have it. My main concern at this point is to try to take the harshness of out being lowered and using Bilstein Sport shocks to do it.

I looked yesterday and I can't find anything indicating that I do indeed have z51, so I highly doubt that I do....I'll let you know if anything comes up though.
