Have a 2000 coupe. Going to get my roof painted. The paintshop says the rain gutter trim on each side cannot be removed. I told them I believe it can be. In fact I belive the whole glass can be removed from the frame.
Is this correct as I am payin $500 for a nice paint job and he is saying under the trim rain gutters paint may not be 100%. If the the answer is yes, do you have pictures or instructions in how to remove the glass from the frame?
YOU CALLED IT A MOON ROOF!? Leave the forum and never comback
Just messin But on a more serious note, skip painting the transparent top and just buy a used one from someone and have that painted any color you want. That way, your still not breaking the bank and you have a transparent roof for when you feel like looking at the sky, and a solid when you don't.
I would highly discourage you painting the (moonrof) Lexan roof panel.
Mine was peelign so i had it sanded down and painted and welllets just say that the paint has develpoed some cracks, in it..as i am sure it was not intended t be painted from the get g.
I have painted a fiberglass roof. Near as I can tell, you can't get the rain-gutters off, but that does not stop you from getting a proper paint job right to the edge.
I masked the inside of the gutter. Its tedious, but it can be done. Paint gets in there just fine. It is also a bit of a pain to sand in there close to the gutter, but it can be done.

My transparent top was peeling 2 years ago so I had the local chevy dealership paint it for me. 2 years of setting out in the weather and you can't tell the difference between it and a regular painted top. If I had a good clear top I would have bought a new one but since mine was scratched up it was cheaper for me to paint. I only spent $250 getting mine painted though.
