I want to buy a set of tires and wheels from an 02 vette for my 00 vette. As I understand it the sensors are not compatible with the 00 from the 02. Can I just run without changing them and just hit the reset or do I have to swap out the ones from my 00 to the new ones which would eliminate my idea of just a simple change over of the tires/wheels. I assume there is noway to reprogram 02 sensors to an 00.
Thanks as usual
No there is no way to reprogram them. But you do have a few options;
1) Swap them from your old wheels... 2000 batteries are getting near the end of their useful life however...
2) Try to have them serviced with new batteries... there was someone here on the Forum that offered to do this... do a search and you'll find the details.
3) Replace them with new.
4) Run without sensors...???
Changing out a sensor after mounting and balancing a tire is not too difficult, more a hassle then anything else, but will cost. If you can live with that just swap them out, if not, I would buy new ones.
To change the sensor all that has to be done is break the bead, you don't have to remove the tire.
Here is a thread about changing the batteries http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1030589
I would not fix them if they are not broken.
