I have stress cracks on my front rotors. I guess this is a good warning.

Have you guys checked the torque on the lug nuts? Maybe a combo of too tight and heat.

Hey guys, I have seen this happen!! It's actually happened a few times to different guys, only problem, it wasn't on a C5, but it was a GM product. I have a friend who runs the TS Modified class up at Thompson Speedway in CT, Chad Gaudiousi. He was out for his qualifier and this exact thing happened to him. Came off turn 2 and snap, luckily he didn't go into the wall or anything, car just came to a smokey stop, from the stands we had no idea what was going on. When he got towed into the pit there were some more expierienced drivers that told him every two to three weeks he had to change the front rotor on the passenger side, left hand turns, to the back, so every two to three weeks he had to buy a new rotor! These cars are built up of stock parts and this was a stock GM rotor that you could pick up at the dealership!! Although I'm not sure which GM vehicle this cam off of. I guess between the heat and stress these things would develop cracks and snap off. I saw it happen a couple times more to other guys, so this was no freak of nature! But no real harm done, he wrecked the rotor, tire, caliper pins and pads. He went on that race to finish 4th I believe and wrapped up the season as the points leader of his class!!! It was pretty cool, kid just turned 18 and kicked some a$$ up there. So to answer your question, yup have seen it happen, just not on a Vette!! Maybe you got a defect or maybe a previous owner was and autocrosser!! Good luck!! Dan
