Default floor jack

I just recently purchased a 99 coupe and I noticed that my floor jack will not fit underneath the contact point the owners manual recommends for the front of the car. Can anybody provide me insight including a jack that I can buy, tips on jacking and anything else related. I can't fathom having to have my brakes or oil serviced by someone other than myself. Thanks!

Dyver,
How much are you off?
If 2" buy or scxrounge some 2x12 . bevel the front edge at a 45 degree angle. Drive up on the planks, your jack should fit.
Even if you have to repeat and screw two 2x12s together ( make the bottom one a bout 18 inches longer than the top one, put the butt ends together, bevel them both)
that way your drive up on the bottom, then drive up on the top one.
that will give you almost 4 inches of extra height.
a 10 ft 2x12 is a LOT cheaper than another jack!

Yea, using 2x12s works every time. But I read tonight about using your old removed stock rotors.. perfect steping design. Might try that sometime myself.

I just picked up the DK20Q...the blue one in the picture.
Much nicer than the old Prolift I had been using.

I ordered the jack on Saturday, 1/21/06 and had it on the following Wednesday, 1/26/06...here's a link to the web site...

Well worth the price...the last jack I'll need to buy!

I just picked up a Sears low profile jack. The #50240 1.5 ton, 3 3/4" min. height. $120 normally, $20 off through 2/4/06, plus another $10 off for Craftsman Club members. $90 total for what appears to be a solid unit. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00950240000

Default jacks

Just got my latest Harbor Freight catalogue. They have a lite weight, low profile 3,000# jack on sale for less then $80. I have had another of their low profile jacks for almost a year with no problems.

You guys might want to take a look at this thread....I think they beat this issue to death a bit, but there is alot of good info here regarding floor jacks for stock and lowered C5's etc...

Hope this helps...

If anyone is considering a jack from Harbor Freight, I have a coupon good for 20% off on any single item. Expires 2-2-2006. I get them periodically. It's valid only at their retail stores.
This discount is in addition to the sale prices.

Email me and I'll forward it to you. mcmlxiii@lycos.com
