problem with CLB

problem with CLB

I installed one on my 97 about 3 months ago and every time I take the keys out and then put it back in I get a pull key message. If I don't ever take the key out of the ignition I never have a problem. Is this something that is normal for the 97 ?

When the security system sees multiple key insertions in rapid order it senses there's foul play (theft attempt) and you'll get that warning. It happens to me if I insert the wife's key by mistake then immediately insert mine. Of course, it could be something else, but I doubt it if it only happens under the circumstances you describe.

Well I guess what I mean is if I pull the keys and go in to a store or something then when I come back out and put the key back in I will get the message every time.

maybe disconnect the CLB and reinstall to see if it will fix your problem

You might try cleaning the resistor in your key.

I have heard of similar problems caused by dirty contacts on the key.

I never thought about that. I'll try it and see what happens.
