High Mileage C5's

I've done nothing but preventive maintenance on it, i.e. belts, automatic transmission fluid change, oil changes (per the DIC) and some Techron in the tank every couple of months. Next is brakes and it kills me that I can keep getting parts for my Corvette cheaper than I can get parts for my Jeep Grand Cherokee!!!!!!

2002 Pewter Coupe
R/F daytime running light (11/05)
Passenger Power window/doorlock inoperative (today!!)
Other than these two items......NOTHING ELSE...
Cars headed out on a cross country drive in April, to Savannah, Bowling Green and back.
UPDATE ON POWER WINDOW/DORLOCK REPAIR:
Trouble was in a wiring harness inside the door......$275 + LABOR
Also, on the way down to the dealership this morning the DIC Screen lit up like a Las Vegas marque displaying multiple messages ("Service Car Soon", "Service Traction Control"," Check Tire Pressure Monitoring System", and the Traction Control System and Security sytem lights lit up on the main screen.....
After the service writer told me about the cost of the harness, he said they couldn't get it (DIC) to it again, but they thought it might be a Body Control Module", which is $575 + LABOR...
The extended warranty (7 year/70K) just expired this past Oct....

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I had a crack in the coolant reservoir, replaced the belts because of a squeek, and had to get new tires... But, otherwise I just thought I had to spend the money on mods...
trans seal, rear axle seals-3times. typical maint. done.. oil every
3-4K, trans & diff serviced every 12K. fuel filter every 12K.
belts, hoses, plugs, wires done twice. 2.5sets of tires. 1 front brake
job(pads only). And of course the steering wheel lock up problem.
Car runs as strong as day 1. never used any oil. avg 21-28 mpg.
drivers seat has "rocking" problem with controls coming apart and seat
foam breaking down.
Clutch is still origional...wondering when that will go.
I ran my buddy side by side (up to the local speed limit of course) and his 1997 C5 with similar exhaust and intake and 20k miles on his car was DEAD EVEN with my car with 104k. Take good care of them and they'll last a long time. The great overdrive(s) on these cars really keeps engine revs per mile down...so the engines and driveline lasts a long time.

Still running original alternator, A/C compressor, water pump. power steering pump, etc. Still get 19-20mpg in town and 28+ on the highway.
Mine's a daily driver. If God had meant Vettes to be garage queens, they would've come with a trailer from GM.
