My chevy 1500 truck (1996) is shuttering like its going between locking and unlocking. If you lay in the throttle it stops, If you lay into it more it downshifts and stops. It seems like it only shutters when crusing down the hwy and you start going up a slight hill and give it just a little gas. At first I thought it was just the converter but now I'm wondering if it might be a pressure switch or TCC. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The motor is out right now so to change the converter is a 1 min job so I'm leaning toward trying that first. But I hate wasting money just to troubleshoot.
i would go over to chevy and see if there is a updated prom/reflash.doesn't sound like a mechanical issue, sounds more like a software issue.just ask to see the technical bulletins[they can't say no,it falls under the freedom of information act].

i just checked.there are quite a few tech bulletins pretaining to your problem[busy 2/3 shifting/tcc,loss of 4th,prom update,etc.].i used 1500/2wd/5.7 vinR as my input.go to www.alldata.com,click on the top right "for vehicle owner"
Thanks for the link. I think I will go to the dealer about that. I also noticed a safty recall for the windshield wipers not working- Mine quit working several months ago and I had to rig up a ground wire to the brake booster for a temp fix. Maybe they'll fix that for free. I guess I'll put the motor back in without replacing the converter right now. It's only a few hour job to change it anyway if I end up needing to. Thanks again.
