I love my 02 black coupe, but lately I've been noticing the rattles and shakes in it more then anything and it's really taking away from the enjoyment of driving a vette...
What can be done, it's coming mainly from the hatch area.
It's driving me crazy, I can't stand it anymore.
Anyone else get this as bad as me?
Is the hatch it's self shaking and causing the rattle... when is this happening? I am assuming, that the car is running fine, and your getting rattles and things while driving and going over bumps? Those are always fun to find..

Exactly, the car runs fine.
It's just going over bumps and stuff that it rattles. Sounds like it's in or around the hatch area.
I'll have to get back there adn yank some things around and see if I can find something loose.........talk about annoying.
I figured someone with an older vette has probably experienced this already and could give me a better idea about what they did to fix it.
My 1997 rattled quite a bit when I first bought it. It rattled so much in fact that I considered not buying it! However, after a few minutes with a 14 or 15mm wrench on the rubber hood stop adjusters (4 round *****, 1 at each corner), I had the thing snapping shut and not making a peep! Each one needed to come up a turn or two. Also, lube the top of the rubber stops with dielectric silicone grease to reduce squeaks. I can't get over how quiet the car is now...totally different animal!!

On the hood??? My noises sound like they're coming from the hatch.
Is there something similar to those stop adjusters on the hatch?
I am not with my car, but it seems that there are rubber "snuffers" on the hatch. Theyscrew in and out. Pull them out a touch and see what happens. With the windows and doors shut it should be difficult to close the hatch.
I agree... I can't remmber off the top of my head but there should be atleast 2 rubber stoppers that screw in/out.. I would try adjusting them first..
Noises can be a pita to find since they can be hard to reproduce sitting still ect.. Try your best to isolate the area of the noise.. good luck..

I had a 2000 coupe that had annoying rattles that sounded like they were comming from the hatch but were actually comming from the back pins of the targa top (this is a very common problem with the C5 coupe). When my husband put a little grease on the pins, the noise quieted right up, but it eventually comes back and I have to bug him to grease it again. Is there anyone here who knows a more permanent fix?
