Default C5 / 2004 Oil Pressure

I am getting this message on start-up: "LOW OIL PRESSURE O". The gauge needle does not register. Dip-stick shows: engine oil /full. Engine temp. & outside temp. in good running range. I can not reset message but after running at idle for a few minutes or driving....oil pressure registers on the gauge and the message is gone.
Have there been sending unit recalls or failures? Has anyone had this problem? This problem has just started happening.

Any advise

Thank You
Steve

Mine did the same thing and it was the oil pump. Replaced it and it works fine now.

JMZVE, What about driving to the shop. Can I trust gauge. I don't want to damage the engine. Car under warranty.

Please advise

If its under warranty I wouldn't chance it. Reading too high is very common but low sounds like the pump.

Default Oil Pump Failures

Any C.Forum folks know of info regarding C5 2003/2004 + ...oil pump failures, as described, on these model years with low mileage. Any recalls on the sending units or the pumps?

Thank You
