Default LT Headers and stock H pipe

Anybody using this combo? Curious as to how you like it. I like the popping back sound on decel, reminds me of the old musclecar days.

get a x pipe.the h pipe will hurt you performance wise because the exhaust gases will not flow free instead the gases will collide[the best way to say it,will be like trying to breathe through a stuffy nose].if you like the popping[me too],get a freer exhaust, but definitely get the x pipe[be it a Z06 ti,bullets, etc].i run lgm's through r/t cats into b&b bullets and it pops when i lift but it is not annoying.just my .02

sxe60,

What system are you useing and how did you hook it up to the stock Cats?
Was there cutting and welding involved?..

Im looking into getting LT headers while retaining the stock H-pipe and cats, on my 02' ZO6..

Thanks...

Haven't put on Long Tubes yet, that's why I'm, also, looking for input. Running Borlas Stinger cat backs now. Figure putting on LT's with Hi-Flo Cats and the stock H pipe might make an interesting sound. My understanding is that the X pipe only smoothes out the sound (resonance) and cuts down on the popping.

The x-pipe will produce a bit more power than an h-pipe when installed in the correct place. This is due to the how the X aids scavenging.

I have an 01 six speed Coup. Originally installed Stainless works headers and Random Technology High Flow Cats and X Pipe and kept the stock mufflers. The car had a nasty drone at 2500 RPM that actually gave me a headach. Kept the Long Tubes but reinstalled the stock Cats and H-Pipe and the drone went away. I lost some SOTP power but at least I could enjoy my car again! I have since upgraded to Z06 Ti Mufflers. No perf improvement but it sounds better and I like the look I had a chat with an engineer from Corsa during the Carlisle meet last year and he is convinced my drone problem was due to the restrictive stock mufflers. He swore that the Corsas would not drone with the HF Cats and I was tempted to give them a try but had already upgraded to the Ti exhaust. I'm now considering re-installing the Randon Tech Cats and X-Pipe with the Ti exhaust to see if it still drones. One thing I can tell you for sure, you WILL notice a performance improvement by installing High Flow Cats & X-Pipe.

The only way it will work, is if you have the stock pipe cut and welded by an exhaust shop. This will not work with all headers though...

It may not be the same as on a C5 but I had that near exact setup on my old heads and cammed C4, with Corsa Touring mufflers, and let me tell you, at around 2500-3000 rpm there was such a drone that it actually got the air in the drivers cockpit vibrating and fluttering.

Nasty was not the word for it. Otherwise however, at cruising speeds, other that at those rpms, the exhaust was near quiet. Now, WOT was something else. People ran for cover a block away. I think the Corsa guy was wishful thinking and giving his product more credit that it was due.

On my present C5, the minute I took the factory cats off and added LT headers with hi flo mini cats, the Corsa Touring I had suddenly got real nasty loud.

Not a throaty rumble either, but this cackly staccato racket. I took them off and like you, installed a TI cat-back from a Z06. Now, it sounds good.

You mean if I put long tubes on my car with new Corsa Tourings, it will sound like crap? Ha Ha, how ya doing?
