Default Whistle with zip tie mod?

Does anyone who uses the zip tie mod get a whistle at about 1200-1300 rpm's? It happens in all gears so I have been trying to keep the rpm's around 1500 or more. It is not hurting performance but it sounds crappy to hear a nice Corvette with strange sound coming from under the hood. Toyed with the idea of putting on a Z06 lid.

I didn't get a whistle when I did the kip-tie mod, since then I changed to a home made CAI and I still don't have a whistle.

However when the car is just started and cold there is a light whistle from the throttle body until the engine warms up, but I had that with the OEM airlid also and it goes away once the car is warm. I believe that whistle is normal for most C5's but I could be wrong, it's happened at least once before.

thanks for the info, I did not have the stock lid on very long and I don't remember it doing it then. Mine does whistle cold or warm at only those low rpm's. It has probably always whistled but with the factory box removed it is more pronounced.

Check the fit between the intake body and the accordion. That little metal ring doesn't really clamp tight. You might have to add some sealant.

Thats called a c clamp, It will tighten and have O leaks.
If it's not stripped. The sealant idea is not good and Is not needed.
Mine whistle's like a SC. I like it. I have no leaks.
Natural sound for my car.

sounds like an air leak. If it is between thr filter and box you 'll get unfiltered air come thru.

Easy test - throw the stock filter box back on and see if it still does it.

My car whistled with the Blackwing at about that rpm. Now with the Vortex and Heads/Cam, you can hear it sucking air more than whistling. I like it, but then I like the sound of the Quadrajet 4 barrel on my 442. That moan when those 2.5" secondaries open is music to my ears. I guess it's a matter of taste.

hmm. So I just said my car sucks and my other car moans and I like it. Oh well hopefully you can understand what I mean.
