Default Car changes direction slightly when on and off the throttle.....?

Wheel bearings? Suspension bushings? A really ****ty alignment? Whats the deal?

When I get on the throttle, the car pulls slightly to the left. Lift off, and it tucks back in line.

The car is pretty powerful, (600+rwhp) and the front end does come up when I get on the throttle, plus Im running 275/40 R17s in the front on CCWs. Could that be the cause??

older muscle cars did this all the time. torque caused the rear end to squash down on one side. my 68 roadrunner does this but the driver side lifts up on hard runs. the car feels as though it wants to change lanes. but to the right. maybe its just the way it feels to have the thing lifting up. are you coming way up? with that kind of power, i imagine you could be lifting a tire off the ground or real close to it. this would cause the steering to very loose. that much suspension smash in the rear with a bunch of lift in the front will cause what is referred to as bump steer in these sideways sprung cars.

Though I love the idea, I dont think Im coming anywhere near picking a tire off the ground simply giving it half throttle in fourth at 75mph.

Do other high output cars have the same issue?

Could be worn bushings in the upper and lower a-arms in the rear. If they are loose it would cause the car to turn slightly as they would pivot as you get on and off the power. The same thing happened on our old leaf sprung cars when the spring bushings would wear, allowing the axle to move slightly to and fro. Just an idea.

look up a search of bump steer. a member gave a great detailed reason these cars will do this sort of stuff. but if you are not lifting in the front and squating in the rear when this happens, then i have no idea what it is. if you look for that thread, it was about 2 wks ago. the suspension description still may help. good luck

No, it certainly does lift up when I get on the throttle.

Car only has 10k miles on it, though! Odd that suspension parts would be wearing already.

try with another person in the passenger seat, about your same weight - on a flat road and see if it happens. shouldn't.

My car does this also very slight but if you drive it alot it almost feels like something is loose. Just in that on off power transition, I just figured it was normal. I just replaced the clutch in the car and check everything there are no loose bushings or balljoints.

This is probably being caused by the rear thrust angle changing. I would check the rear inner and outer tie rod ends for excessive clearance. Grab the rear wheels (off of the ground) at 3 and 9 o'clock and push and pull to see if there is movement. If not take to the alignment shop and inspect the rear toe settings. Front toe always splits (and your steering wheel will be off), rear toe does NOT split. If the rear toe is not the same from left to right rear this can cause an on power and off power pull.
Done any rear drivline mods , rear sway bar removal, rear suspension work lately ??? I can watch the rear alignment move when I remove the lower bolts to the frame for the swaybar when I do mufflers on these cars. Any disassembly of any rear suspension components should be followed up by an alignment. Tires are expensive on these cars , right????
Hope this helps.

If you're turning and you notice this phenomenon just a little, I think that you should expect that...

I would start by checking the alignment. It sounds like the rear alignment is off.

check in the general c5 forum. i just ttt the thread i was telling you about. MrLeadFoot is the one who described the suspension causeing a steering sensation. maybe with the power you have this is acting the same as the suspension height difference corners and pot holes cause for the rest of us. the rear ends change the alignment with variances in suspension travel. like i said earlier just a guess.... but might be the cause. the thread says "SUSPENSION" hope this helps.
