Be-Cool Radiator Installation Tips
After reading posts on the forum I had two concerns, the fan electrical connection hitting the sway bar and the top shroud cover not fitting correctly. These problems were due to the Be-Cool radiator being almost 1 ½” thicker than the stock unit.
Electrical Connection:
The connection did not hit the sway bar but was so close that problems were possible, but the fix was easy. The fan mounts into the shroud assembly with four bolts and it’s a matter of rotating the fan on the mounts 45 degrees. The connection will then sit away from the sway bar and all the factory wiring will hook up perfect. There is a small alignment tab that has to be cut off.
Top Shroud:
Again the thicker radiator would not seat into the top shroud mounting area. The suggested fix was to use cable ties to hold it down and that solution seemed to work. I took it one step further and ground off about 1” of the inside clip that held the old radiator. I then re installed the rubber grommet and everything fit into place. None of the grinding is visible and the installation looks “factory”
I have not driven the car but yesterday when the temperature was at 105 I had the car idling for about 1 hour and the temperature never got over 199. The only other modification is a 180-degree thermostat.
