Default Telescopic steering wheel ???

Hi everyone, glad the sun is shining today. Quick question. When I first get in my C5 the seat goes to where it should but the steering wheel does not come out until I hit the memory button. Is this how it should work? I would think that the wheel and the seat would reset together...Thanks for the help...Mike

Mine does. Do you hit the UNLOCK on the FOB?

Generally my telescopic comes out with the seat no matter how I enter the car as long as I put the key in after the door is shut. However, if for any reason my wheel stops telescoping (and when it does it throws a code) then nothing will move at first. If I then press the memory button the seat moves but the wheel does not. I then press the telescoping button over and over until the wheel moves. After that it works fine again for a few weeks. I am pretty sure the correct operation is wheel and seat both move upon entry and exit. Mine is a 99. No one has ever been able to explain this phenomonon...

The wheel, seat, mirrors, etc should all adjust accordingly. Adjust everything to the position you want and try to reset the memory. Also, make sure you hit the unlock button on the FOB before you get in the car or it won't adjust to your corresponding memory setting when you put the key in the ignition.

My steering wheel always comes out but sometimes my seat only moves about an inch or it goes all the way foward (not to comfortable for someone who's 6'2"). I found if I start the car just after the seat starts to move I don't have any problems at all.

You have to set your memory with the steering wheel in place while you set the memory. Adjust the wheel to the distance you want, then press the memory button and hold the button until it flashes.

My memory settings work correctly most of the time, but randomly will not w/o pushing the memory button. I usually leave the key in the ign. pulled out just far enough to keep the buzzers from going off, so I don't hit the unlock on the FOB. (when parked in the garage) I was told you must shut the door before puting the key in, but that doesn't seem to matter. Probably a "glitch" in the system?

For grins, try hitting the unlock on the FOB everytime you get in and see if it works.

Tried it and you are right! I got in and pushed the key in, nothing. So I hit the unlock and pushed the key in again and VIOLA! (or how ever you spell it) Thank you
