Default 3:73 vs 3:90

Just purchased a reconditioned getrag rear end with a new 3:73 ring and pinion newly installed but was rethinking about a 3:90 instead anyone with opinions on the 2. Car is mainly a weekend cruiser ocasional dragstrip.
Thanks. Bob

Keep what you got. There's not enough difference to make a difference.

Bob; you need to include certain key info in order fro others to give their opinions.

A4 or 6 speed ?

degree of current mods?

plans for future mods?

I looked at your profile and you don't have the tranny type listed there either.

Throw us a bone here...

Not enough difference, if you already have the 3:73's, 'I'd hold what you got', I personally went with the 3:90's.

you probably won't see much difference on your occasional trip to the track, and you will get slightly better mileage. Plus replacing the gearset is just another opportunity to induce problems. DBD

4.10's or don't bother. Recently changed to 4.10's and it feels like 75 more hp. A real kick in the A$$. You will love them, and many members will tell you it is the best mod you can do. By the way, what is traction, I don't have it anymore ?

For more of a daily driver, and, not a true dedicated drag car: I offer another vote for the 3:73. The 3:73's are a great all around gear (regarding SOTP impression, acceptable mileage, and, top end) that is o.e. on the new C6 Z06.

If given a choice I would go with the 3.90s for sure, but as others said here since the housing unit is already set-up, i don't think its worth the $ to go to 3.73 to 3.90 as its not a bid step up, and if you decide to do it, then do it right and go all the way by puting in a 4.10 gear! That might be worth the added $!
