Default Headlight Drive motor Concern

My headlight moves up and down without a problem or noise. However, it seems that the motor keeps running after the headlight is up. Not sure if a motor, sensor or gear problem.

Can anybody offer suggestions on problem and a fix?

Its the gear. Nylon gear with a steel worm drive.

Get the brass gear. might as well get two as you will need the other one eventually.

I don't remember how to get in touch with Rodney, he make the gears, do a search on Rodney Dickman. I believe that is his complete name.

All you have to do is remove the gear housing cover, rotate the gear 90 degrees in one direction, then reassemble it. No $.

Assuming that your headlight will be in the raised position when you remove the motor, just position the bad teeth toward the front of the car. If you refer to the pic in the article referenced in the link below that shows how the gear moves, place the bad teeth somewhere between the raised and lowered positions, which is the same side as where the author of the article references the "halfway up" mark.

It took me awhile to figure out what he was trying to say, and at one point I actually thought he was wrong. But after going over in my mind how the gear rotates, I confirmed he was right, and repositioned my bad gear, which was doing EXACTLY what your is doing. Do it right away, because you don't want those broken off pieces of teeth grinding up the rest of the good teeth.
