Default Window Motor Fix!

Went out to tinker with my 2000 vert today and found the drivers side window stuck in the up position. I went to the forum for help and tried the door slam and hold button while closing tricks but niether worked. Took the door panel off to check wiring and all appeared ok. Removed the speaker assembly so motor and regulator could be easily seen. Removed the window motor electrical connector and verified 12 volts to the motor when raise/lower button was pushed. Checked on the price of a new reg/motor assembly and about choked! Decided to take a closer look at assembly to locate problem. Loosened 3 nuts holding reg/motor in place. With motor power disconnected removed 4 torx screws (size 25) holding motor to regulator. Pulled and spun motor and drive shaft out of regulator. Found motor brushes stuck to the commutator. Freed the brushes and removed the armature from the housing. Removed the two clips holding the brush tension springs in place and sanded the brushes so they fit flush to the commutator. New brushes could also be purchased. Placed the armature back in the housing and the motor assembly back in the regulator and it worked! Care must be taken when placing motor assembly into reg. I placed the three nuts back on the reg., replaced the power cable on motor, and ran the motor both directions until the shaft on the motor screwed its way back into the reg assembly. Unscrew the three nuts again and reinstall the 4 torx screws in the motor housing. reinstall the 3 nuts on the reg and check opeation. Hope this helps someone!
