Anyone do a HUD conversion?
Since my FRC is about to be totaled,....due to my clutch failure, i'm looking at a few options for another g-ride. My FRC has/had the HUD,....and I have a close friend, that has the EXACT same WHITE 2000 FRC that I have but, it doesn't have the HUD.
...my theory...I can remove my HUD module/assembly, buy a new dash(for the hud setup), buy my friends car, and install my HUD in the car that it didn't come with the option.
I'm guessing i'll have to do some reprogramming in the PCM or BCM to make it work but....."I" think, it can be done.
Any of you pimps do this before?
Thanks,
J

Easy man, not everyone's a computer wizard like you......
Yes, retrofitting a HUD is not very difficult and should take you about a day to complete if you're semi-mechanically inclined. The toughest part is cutting the dash, you want to get it right once. You can use your existing dash, and the existing cluster(changing the odometer is another story I won't delve into), 11 pin wire harness, HUD bezel, and switch from your other vette (don't worry about not having a HUD windshield, it's not mandatory). It is totally independent of the computer. Don't be a slave to "dealer options" and mark ups! Good luck

I didn't have the hud in my 2001 ..
Swapped dash pads...installed the hud, put in the dash control all in about an hour and a half.....
He drove over with the parts already taken out of his car..
He did all the work...I just hung out and Bullsh!t.
I gave him the dashpad from my car.
Good luck.

I'm no computer wizzard by any means!

but I DO have the common sense to search for information first before I post a question.
that's as ridiculous as asking:
"has anyone replaced the stock catback exhaust on their C5 with aftermarket?"
or
"has anyone replaced the air intake on their C5?"
C'mon, it's not that hard to search first, but I'm sure it's just easier (and lazier) to just post the question.
maybe you should rephrase the reply to................
"Easy man, not everyone has the common sense to search first like you, or most other people on this forum......"

ok, rant over!
