I've searched and there are several different opinions on how to properly break in a motor. The most popular being 500 easy miles or go ahead right away with several WOT runs to immediately seat the rings. What are your opinions? I've received a couple of PMs as well with different procedures. What do the big boys use? ECS? A&A? I know MTI likes the gentle method.

One example of the two different procedures can be found here:

I dropped the oil in my 408 after the first time it got up to operating temp... it was nasty. Then drove the next 500 miles by doing lots of varied rpms "spirited driving" trying to always keep the motor under a load to seat the rings. I didnt spin it past 4k ( tried not to, tire spin was kinda an issue ) during this first 500 miles. And didnt let the motor bog. This was the procedure that the manufacture of my moly rings recomends. I would HIGHLY recomend that first oil change after initial startup after seing how much junk came out of mine.

100%, Change the oil after the first 20mins or so. Then again at 500 miles... Keep the rpm varied and under 4000rpm...
