Well, my vette has about 80k on it. Its getting about time for a new set of shocks. Whats the best bang for the buck to work with my z51 suspenion? Gm z06 (04?) shocks, or maybe the bilstien sports?
Flip a coin, you win either way with both of those shock choices. I plan to upgrade my 99 coupe to the 04 Z06 shocks but either one is a good choice. I think the bilstiens are the OEM shock for Z51.
I'm in the exact same place as you. 80K+ miles with Z51 suspension. I just ordered C6 Z06 Shocks. Cheaper than the others that you listed! Best bang for your buck in my opinion!

how much?, where?, installed? and how are they? They won't rattle your jaw, will they?
There are several threads on 06 z06 shocks and a couple of good write-ups from members that installed them (with a few pictures). Do a search on it.
If I remember correctly the 06 z06 shock was firmer that the 04 z06 shocks and one of the members said it may not be a good choice for the street but excellent for the track. I have been thinking of upgrading to the Blistins (HD or Sport) or the 04 z06 shock. Been researching this extensively. The HD is softer than the Sports and the 04 z06 are usually compared to the sports. Go with the Blistins if you want to lower your ride height. Some say the sports are a bit bouncy on the interstates but are great everywhere else. I have not decided yet but I only have 30K on my shocks.

62K on my 1999 coupe and I went with the Bilstein HD's, as I'd heard the "Sports" were kinda rough riding. Shop around and you get a set of four shipped to you door for $299.
The "HD" ride is firm to the point of almost rough on certain road surfaces. The car stays flat and level with hitting the windy, curvy roads, but like one of the other members said, "You're in a win-win situation putting new shocks on the car!" It's just, how much money do you want to spend..
Good luck...
Just last week I upgraded my 99 vert(74,000) with bilstein heavy duty shocks ($299 from tecdeals on ebay) and Z06 sway bar kit from Fitchners (a supporting forum vendor), what a difference. Also in the process of a tire change either GY F1's or Kumho MX's. I had change original oem shocks at 33,000 with bilsteins before, but not the heavy duty shocks. There is a difference between the 2 and my vette is a daily driver, firmer ride but not real stiff I love it.

Bilstein Sports! You can rebuild or revalve them. OEM's don't spend much on shocks. The need to get you off the lot and past warranty. Shocks are Bilsteins business. I have them on my trucks also great shocks.
I just put 2004 ZO6 shocks on my 98 coupe. It's the best thing I have done. I should have done it a very long time ago. I went with the 2004 ZO6 shocks because I also read more then once that the 2006 ZO6 shocks are not good for standard springs on the street.I got mine from Fichtners.

Actually its the other way around the Heavy Duty are stiffer(more rough) then the sports.Either way they will work.
