Default Higher mileage mods.

I just bought a 99 coupe with 80,000 miles. Is my motor still strong enough to handle head/cam or any other mods?

Unless it never had an oil change or was literally thrashed with reckless abandon, then it is still plenty strong enough to do whatever you want.

Should be fine. These engines run basically at idel most of the time. Do a compression/leakdown test if you're concerned about its health.

My car has was modded at 65k and it now has 68-69k on it. I'm pushing 600rwhp with an H/C kit and an A&A D1. I havent had any major breakages, just minor stuff like a bad clutch slave cylinder, leaking radiator reservoir, faulty tire pressure sensors, etc.

90K on a H/C 2003 Z06 450+ RWHP I drive 200+ miles every day (hard). You can't hurt these engines. Now the drive train is a different story. After you do H/C (or any other major power adder) you better be prepared to start fixing broken drive train components. Or just make sure you keep the factory GoodYear rubber and not hook so they will absorb all the shock!

I believe his is alluding to the poor traction of the stock runcraps......they will break loose and spin rather than grab ( hook up) and launch you on your way....

The rear drivetrain isn't designed for drag racing. If you hook it (the tires suddenly grab) it will overload the rear drivetrain and eventually you will find the weak spot. Most likely an output shaft or the rear differential case, depending on how much power you are making.

The balancer failed on my C5 at about 100K so a I stuck a new cam in since I had to take the front of the motor all apart anyways due to the damage the balancer did.

On a higher milage car I would go ahead and replace the water pump, oil pump and put in a new hardened timing chain. Don't reuse the old balancer. Get a new stock unit if limited in funds or better yet get an aftermarket one from ATI or ASP. If you don't do new heads then replace the springs, retainers, locks, push rods and valve seals.

I did just the cam and Haltech Stinger intake and picked up 60 rwhp. It has been over two years since then and I am now at 120K miles.

I did mods in signature at about 100k. Have 130k now and no problems so far.

My buddy installed a supercharger on his car at 85000 miles, now it has 93000 miles and it runs flowlessly!
My car has 37000 miles with a Supercharger and today I pushed over 9 PSI of boost. The car is still very reliable!!

Default 4000 hours at 4000 rpm

even in 4th gear, thats 100 miles per hour for 4000 hours, or 400,000 miles, with full reliability. mods will be no problem, and unles syou stress the engine, 5500+ rpm for long times, no problems.
