Default Calling all wire harness experts!

Here is my dilemma. I'm just finishing up a mod on my high rise hood. I added a custom faceplate on the rear of the hood, in the cowl area, which faces the driver. I added a couple LED turn signal indicators and need to power them up. I tapped into the front turn signal wires and have signal power. What I never thought of was the daytime running lights. DUH! Now the indicators are on all the time and flash with the turn signals. I thought the DRLs used a separate bulb. I realize I could pull the fuses for the DRLs but I prefer to have them on. I need to tap into the rear turn signal circuit. I really don't want to tap into the rears by the tail lights and have to string a double wire all the way up to the front. Can someone tell me where the rear harness is located towards the front. Is it in the battery area where there are a lot of harness branches? Is there a more convenient spot to draw rear turn signal power? Let the expert advice flow freely.

Under the battery, towards the inside of the right front fender, above the PCM, you will find a number of inline inter-harness connectors.

There is an inline connector pair (C146 on an '04 car) that feeds signals from the IP Harness to the Transmission Harness (that feeds the Rear Lamp Harness).

On that connector, pin A (YEL) is LR Stop/Turn Lamp Supply, and pin B (DK GRN) is RR Stop/Turn Lamp Supply. These are switched separately from the front lamps by the turn signal switch.

A side effect of using the rears will be that your LED's turn on when you hit the brakes, because they also double as brake lights, unless you have the Euro tail lamps and associated wiring modifications.

Thank you Bob! I didn't think about the brake lights. DOUBLE DUH! I'm batting a 1000 on this one. Wish I would have given it more thought before I drilled in the LEDs. Maybe I'll leave it as it is. They will only be on full time during the day so it may be ok. There probably would be the option of picking up power from the circuits of the dash turn signal indicators. I hate to start boring around in there though.

There is nowhere underhood to pick up those signals. The easiest place would be at the IP Fuse Block under the dash, or the BCM module right next to it. Remove the carpet panel in the passenger footwell.

On a 2004:
BCM Connector C2 Pin D7 (DK BLU) is Right Turn Signal
BCM Connector C2 Pin D8 (LT BLU) is Left Turn Signal

You can probably poke the wires through the large rubber grommet on the far right side of the firewall where the main harness feeds through.

Thanks again! I'll take a look and see what I come up with.
