I am gonna go with a set of Nitto 555 DR's for the vette so I have some decent times and can cut some good 60's. My question is can I do that on the stock rims I have on my 00 coupe? If so what tire size? I am sure a lot of people drive on those tires normally so how long are they good for? Can any one reccomend any other tires that grab pretty good off of the line. Also one more question will this break something on the vette having this much traction? I currently have 75k miles.
They will hook well with a big burnout. Go to BF goodrich if you want more stick. The 555s will get about 15K miles max and the BFGs about 5K. On a stock coupe you can go with the 305/35-18s, but that will be for track only, if street go with the next smaller. And yes you will start to break things, gotta pay of you want to play.
I run the 305/45/18s in the rear daily. They are basically a 29 inch tire. I do not use my inner fender wells, but with it raised properly, I dont rub. I do need to lower the front, but oh well. Im going to go with 18s all the way around on the new rims, so the front dont look tiny anymore.
That doesn't look as bad as I would have imagined. I may have to go that route since I use a 28" tire at the track. This way I wouldn't have to worry about tagging my limiter on the street.
As requested, a direct side shot of my car. Sorry, its from my cell phone. Now you can really see why im going to go with 18s all the way around, so i can get the front a little bigger to even out the look. Also, MT is coming out with ET Street Radial in this same size, and I plan on being one of the their first customers for that tire
Your clutch will probably go first... If you dont have a lot of HP everything else will probably be fine. I just bought a set of 305/35/18's for mine and now my clutch is slipping a little. Granite I have a little more than stock HP but on street tires it was fine. So now I am ordering a clutch, output shafts and a DTE brace.. I want no issues in the future... Good luck!!!

I have stock (chrome) rims, clutch, tranny & rear end, so I chose 285/35/18 Nitto555 DR's ...they hook good & I feel the 285's were the safest way to go for my 517hp S/C set up... I got 23k miles...
Thanks for the help guys I have just about every bolt on you can put on there kooks 1 3/4, stinger intake, b&B exhaust, ls6 intake ect... I have the LS7 clutch with only 3k miles on it so hopefully it can hold the power down.
