I tried to set the default code for my radio today as it's locked out do to me disconnecting the battery for upgrades. I tried using the default code 1111 which I was told is correct, but it will not unlock the stereo. Am I using the wrong code? I do not know the security code for my car as I bought it used. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :smash: :cry
The Theftlok radio has two codes, one is the user chosen code, the other is the unalterable factory default code, assigned when the radio was built. The default code is unique for each radio serial number, and was printed on the plastic display protector sheet, on the front panel, when the car was new. If you don't have that, a GM dealer can look-up the factory default code from the serial number of the radio.
Hi there,
Please remember that the factory default code is exactly that, and you retrieve this code in order to obtain the correct unlock code from GM directly.
As for the 6 digit code, retrieve this, and your local dealer can call GM for the 4 digit unlock code.
I only require that the car is present, and that the owner supply a license, and registration.
This way there are not any problems.
Best to you, c4c5
