I am the proud owner of a 2000 6-Speed Hardtop C5 Corvette. I have had the car since Nov. 11, 1999, and until about two days ago had never had the dreaded "service steering column" message appear on the DIC. About two weeks ago, I took it in for the factory recall which was supposed to have fixed the problem so that the message above wasn't able to appear. I spoke with Tom Zavada who some of you may know as the owner of C5 Solutions, and the inventor of the only known fix for the steering wheel lockup. To my knowledge, Tom's bypass is the only zero defect bypass available. The problem is that it may conflict with the relay installed for the 6-speed factory recall fix.
I'd like to ask that if anyone has seen the schematic for the factory fix, to email/post it to me, or email/post where I can read it. I was thinking that Helm's might have the schematic as an addendum to the 2000 factory service manual, but haven't had a chance to research that aspect yet.
Thanking everyone who responds in advance, I am,
Sincerely, Peter R. Ross,
Ashburn, VA
