anyway .. does the inner fender come in two pieces? .. it looks like a second piece is glued to the piece that is glued to the frame .. is it possible to just replace the outer piece? .. i really dont want to have to take it down the the body shop to replace the entire inner fender

I've rebuilt (rebuilding) a 2001 and I replaced BOTH of the front inner fenders - the inner fenders are glued onto the frame and are ONE piece - there is a smaller inner piece that is screwed onto the lower rear (behind each of the front tires), but that small piece is not glued onto the frame.

I feel that when replacing the inner fenders, alignment is CRITICAL since once the inner fender is glued onto the frame, there is NOT!!! any way to adjust it - once the glue dries it is in place, PERIOD!! - But, the outer fender has to then be screwed/attached onto the inner fender, and you obviously want the outer fender to be well aligned w/ the body of the car - TROUBLE IS, that there is VERY LITTLE room for aligning the outer fender on the inner fender when you install the outer fender.

Probably easier to visit in person, rather than typing this all out - if you want to talk, PM me w/ your phone number, and I'll give you a call - it'd be easier to discuss your problem / options if you are looking at your car while I'm looking at mine.

yeh i was hoping it was a three piece fender when in fact like you aid it's onyl a two piece.

i had this done once before .. had one shop do it, it turned out like garbage, had a second shop do it .. turned out ok ..

im thinking about attempting this myself .. if it doesnt work out i figure the worst i have to do is pull it back off and tow it down to the shop.

I can ask my body shop - I think it is called "Panelbond" - some kind of black glue that dries in a couple hours, and when it dries, WOW, its hard, tough and ROCK SOLID!
