LS6 head castings are exactly the same as the LS2 ones, same casting # and all, only differences are the valves and there is a lot of debate on what the actual difference are other than the LS2 using sodium filled valves in i believe the intake holes. Haven't done a lot of research on it but that is what i remember anyway.
LS6 heads should work absolutely fine on a LS2. Might want to contact a local Tuner to make sure youve got the correct pushrod legnth.
If we have to be picky then the answer is still yes. Only thing to be concerned with at that point would be piston to valve clearence with whatever cam he's going to go with. Depending on what pistons he's using it might be necessary to fly-cut them to avoid contact on some of the big cams.
