C-5 TECH Will a recall kit for an a4 work on a mn6 car. From what i have read, much more simple install and fixes problem. If the kits will work ,will dealer do the install. If you worked at my dealer,it would try the right way,but for sure, you don't. Thanks in advance.
Re: Paging C-5 Tech-COLUMN LOCK RECALL (NEED FOR SPEED)
Yes,it will work...As far as the dealer doing it,every dealer has their own policies as to how they operate.Technicly,it is a big no-no to alter a recall in any way,but it wouldnt hurt to ask.Wether you have an A4 or an M6,the column requires disasembly to perform the recall. The M6 also requires installing a jumper harness at the BCM.This involves backing out terminals at the BCM and column lock relay connectors to install and can be a challange (if not worse) for a non experienced tech,so I see your concern.I would only suggest that have this performend by some one familuar with the procedure...And of course, there is always the bypass ;)
C5Tech,
I had the SCL Recall fix installed last Wednesday. On Friday it failed on a mountain road 250 miles from home. Roadside assistance towed it to a small Vermont dealer who has seen very few C5's. They are skeptical that they can get me on the road again. Is there a way to uninstall the fix? Can we revert to the original system? I had a SCL Bypass kit overnighted to me on Saturday but it doesn't work with the fix.
The column is not locked but the PCM cuts off the fuel as soon as the car starts to move. I tried all the fuse pulls, 25 and 23 (heard the relay cycle) and disconnected the battery. Pull key or service column messages still appear. I need help big time.
