Default oil pan removal?

Whats the trick to getting the oil pan off? I have the heads and intake and the front of the motor off already. The oil pan is off but I can't get it out of the car. I tried jacking the motor with no luck.

Unfortunately the cradle has to come down. With the crank and pickup tube you have to have to have 6" or so.

Is that the only way? I read on here somewhere that someone said they pulled there oil pan in an hour. Is it that easy to drop the cradle? Also how do you support the motor when you do that?

I would love to know how to do it in an hour or without dropping cradle.
The pan is directly above the cradle.
If you send me an email I will send you the factory manual pages on cradle removal .pdf.

Where do you support the car if you drop the cradle? If I have drop the cradle, I might as well just pull the motor, and change the rod bolts, install the clutch, slave and master cyclinder, and fix an outputshaft leak while the cars down. Looking at it, it seems possible to just to unbolt the motor from the bell housing and slide it forward, can that be done? I have never torn apart a c5 before or messed with the torque tube. If I remove the whole drive train do you support the car on the jacking spots on the frame?

I think the thread that talked about removing the oil pan in an hour was only about the lower oil pan and gasket, and not the upper section of the pan.

Well then, if you are a DIYer without a lift I would pull it out the top. It is not hard. Do a search for details.

With just the lower part of the pan removed can you get into the windage tray? I am trying to get to under the tray. Unless I just over looked it, I didnt see where you could remove just part of the oil pan. I unbolted it from the block, does it come apart somewhere else?
