A lot of forum members buy the optima series and there are posts from some forum members about trouble with them. I would suggest buying the type of battery that has served you well in the past. I would also recommend getting the side post to top post cable adaptors and buying a top post battery such as came in the 04 vette. Stops all the loose side post problems.
Yes but I think the theory is that the cables are a strain on the side post causing the leaking.
There are no side posts. The side terminals are an extension of the top posts. They do not protrude through the case.
Anyway, that's what it appears to me.

Well I have no argument with you. I’m just going with what I’ve seen on the forum.
I went with another delco battery, the previous one lasted over 5 years.
and I never had a problem with a delco battery.
Tom,
Like you I have only had good service from Delco batteries in my Corvettes for almost 40 years. Unfortunately I personally know two folks that have had their Delco's leak since 2000. One was a Tahoe and another was a C5. Both of them caused damage, the C5 was expensive to fix. I still have Delco's in my other Corvettes, but in my C5 I am using an Orbital. It just isn't worth the risk to me. (I am also checking my Delco's more frequently than I ever did before!)
Because of the C5's battery location I think it's a roll of the dice… and I'm not much of a gambler.
