Thanks to info I've gathered searching old posts, I've concluded that my fuel pump needs to be replaced in my '99 FRC. After long drives of two or more hours, I start hearing a high-pitch whine from the driver side rear of the car. It fluctates with the turn signal when I'm signaling.
I've read that noisy fuel pumps are common on early C5s, and the whine doesn't necessarily mean the pump's going bad. However, the noise bothers me enough to where I want to replace the pump anyway.
My question is, can anyone describe the procedure of replacing the pump? I can't imagine it being as much of a pain as in my '95 Z28, which required dropping the exhaust and the dinosaur stick axle. Also, what pump do you recommend and how much does it cost? I've had good luck with the Walbro pumps Racetronix sells in my other cars.
If you buy the racetronix kit, it'll come with the hot wire harness. Which I can drain a full tank (using the harness) and have the pump assembly out in about 15-20 minutes
