Hello,
I'm looking into installing a HUD into my 98 Coupe.
This is what I know so far.
*I will have to replace my Instrument Cluster to a HUD configured unit *obtain the HUD components.
*I also will have to reprogram the new cluster with my current mileage.
Will a change over work on my 98’s computers and dash structure?
I know of other that have done this to later C5's that had the HUD option, but the 98 did not have this available. If I get all of the components and install it. Will it work?
I installed a HUD in my '98 almost 2 years ago. All '97,'98,'99 and so on will accept the HUD install (with the exception on adding a HUD ready cluster on those early year C5's). The only modification you must do is to cut the dash, which is no big deal.
Go ahead and do it---you'll not be sorry in the least. Good luck.
you need
1. HUD cluster
2. Hud switch
3. Hud projector(harness is built in)
4. Hud bezel(plastic trim)
5. Hud harness(from switch to back of cluster)not avail from GM
as noted in the link, you will most likely need to notch the Magnesium column support for the aft HUD projector mount point

my '98 already had the notch in the support, also try to get a cluster that already has the HUD switch on it, that way you will not need the HUD harness.
