Magnesium Wheels
Is there a problem with the magnesium wheels? Why don't more C5 have them? Has anyone ever removed the powder coating and polished them?
Magnesium looks better than aluminum when polished, just wondering about this. Has GM discontinued the option for magnesium wheels?

For 2002 no mag wheel option for domestics at least - not sure about export models. The folks that have the mag wheels love them.
Problems: Cost, chipping of finish, wheel weights coming off, scratches of finish

I have em.......but they were optioned out on my car when I bought it. In 99 they were a $3000 option. :eek: Had I known then what I know now, I would have gotten the base rims and switched them out with some aftermarket rims. :D Well at least not every one has them, but they are extremely soft! I know first hand as I just curbed one last week :mad

I really love the unique look of the mag rims. The problem is they chip very easily. I had a nail in one of my run-craps and the "Certified Run-Crap" Installer managed to scrape the entire lip of the rim. They are going to get it refinished for me. Hopefully it matches.
