Does anyone know anyhting about this new B&M Short-Throw Sport Shifter? It almost looks like the stock one. I would like to put a new shifter on my 2000 C5 but I want it to also be shorter in hieght also. this new shifter from what I can tell does not look any shorter.
I have heard its a better shifter and found one for $175. I just want to get the right one (Shorter through, and shorter in hieght) if any of you know anyhting that meets this please let m eknow.
I'm really happy with the 45044 Sport shifter & it’s a bit shorter in overall height with a significantly shorter throw. It is a bit notchy and takes a little more effort to engage the gear but that's something I like. The unit is quiet, with very little vibration transmitted to the driver, and far less sloppy than the stock unit (purely IMHO). Just a heads up... 1st through 4th are quick & easy to select, 5th & 6th just slightly harder when compared to stock (probably just me). Overall I'm really satisfied with it
I've attached an image, not the best, but something to at least look at. Maybe you can see the slight height difference. I’ve swapped the stock shift **** for a Delrin hard-bar which makes the shifter seem even shorter. I’ll try to post an image of that arrangement a bit later.
Thank you Boomah! the pic is great! Where did you find the shifter? Is 175 a good price? I guess Im a little conserned about the shifting because the wife wil drive it too. She said she doesnt really care because she doesnt drive it much. I just dont want to spend the money only to be disapointed. I see by your pic it is shorter too! Id love to find a good after market **** too. I'm thinking of the C6 one if I can find one with yellow stiching.
Thanks again!

For the same money, there's the C6 Z06 shifter, which is definitely shorter than the stock C5 unit. The yellow-thread shift **** can probably be obtained from VetteEssentials.

Thank you in advance.

As best I can tell, it is being offered as a "quiet" version of the Ripper. Notice the fat bulge in the shifter shaft. It has an inner/outer shaft configuration with rubber in between, just like the stock shifter. This prevents vibration noises from being transmitted to the shift ****, etc. It has a shorter throw than stock but I don't know how it compares to their Ripper version in that category.
I also put the new B&M shifter on mine a couple of months ago. I really like the shorter throws with no vibration. It may be a little harder to shift, but very little in my opinion. For the money it's a great upgrade from the stock shifter.
