I get this odd rear end noise that starts at just around 20-25 mph.
It sounds like a very very very loud tire noise. As the car goes faster, the noise gets more defined and a little louder. It almost sounds like the tires are rubbing on something, but after looking, they dont seem to be hitting anything. The sound is coming from the rear.
Heres the odd part, on hard left turns or curves, at over 25 mph, the noise goes away. It does not go away on hard right turns.
The car is lowered, has 275/40/18 tires in the rear, brand new. I want to say that maybe the sound started or got worse after lowering it. It is lowered on stock bolts. Everything seems tight on both rear wheels. At least, when I put my foot on the rear wheels and shake the car, its tight, nothing sounds loose. I am starting to think it is the left side that is doing it, but its so hard to tell when driving.
Any Ideas? This sound is very annoying, and after finding out it goes away on left turns, kinda freaks me out to drive the car.
I'm wondering if you have a bad rear bearing hub? Have you had them checked out?
No, I have not checked them. I thought about this also, but the sound isn't really like a bad bearing. And I would think a bad bearing wouldnt stop making noise on hard left turns, it should make noise no matter. I guess I should check them anyway.
Time to Jack that bad boy up and slide under it, have someone turn the wheels to see if you can hear or see anything unusual, check the calipers and rotors to make sure things are tight, if it's a wheel bearing you should be able to hear it or feel it as your tuning the wheels
