Default Wheel weight placement, does it make a difference?

I had two techs in disagreement. Putting on chrome z06 wheels, one tech using stick on weights on the inner barrel of wheel using inner and outer edge. Other using stick on weights inside barrel outer edge(near chrome), then using clamp on type weights at the lip on the inner side of the barrel. Is there a difference in using the stick on for inner edge or the clamp on type.

watch it on the ones close to the face of the wheel, the caliper may catch on the fronts

Shouldn't make a difference as long as the balancing machine is satisfied. However, some stick on weights do not stick as well as others. When I bought a set of wheels and tires from Tire Rack they used large (wide) stick ons and they stuck like they were screwed to the wheel. A local tire dealer did another set of wheels for me and the stick ons they used were no where near as wide but much longer. I continually threw those weights off the wheels. Finally had to have regular wheel weights installed.

As long as the area where the stick on weights is cleaned properly, they should be ok, although I prefer the bang ons on the lips any day.
