i recently bought a nice '99 FRC. everything seems to be working great, except for the passive entry. i have tried changing the battery, resynching by holding the lock and unlock buttons until the horn chirps, setting the DIC to passive unlock both doors, and still passive doesn't function. i can unlock the doors using the button, but just walking up to the car doesn't do the trick. i even tried a spare key fob and got the same results.
Count your blessings!
I assume the passive switch is on?
If it is, try cycling the switch 10-20 times. Sometimes the contacts get oxidized and don't make good contact. Most end up turning it off anyway. It can get annoying wandering around the garage with the car locking and unlocking itself.
Ya know Brian, I just don't get the need for this function. Unlike the C6 where you just push the start button if the key's on you, one still has to have the C5 key in hand to start the car. So why not just push the button? I don't think you'll see any RFA codes since the buttons work. But nothing surprises me with these cars.
