Default Tunnel plate installed!!

I had my new tunnel plate from Elite Engineering installed this weekend and I can definetly notice an improvement in my car. My car is a 99 coupe with base suspension and 45k miles. I could tell something was different right away. It may sound crazy but even the shifter feels more solid. The whole car just feels better and tighter all the way around. I went with the 3/8 SS ceramic coated plate and I would say this is a good mod, money well spent. Next I will be installing Z06 sways and then Z06 shocks and I will have a completely different car! I am very happy with my tunnel plate!

I was skeptical as to how it would make the car more rigid, but I too felt the difference RIGHT AWAY.

Default Tunnel Plate

I'm having one installed on my 1999 vert this week. Curious to see if I notice any difference.

after waiting 6 weeks to receive my tunnel plate from lapd, even after calling last tuesday and they said it was shipped, i cancelled the order after not receiving it by today and ordered one from elite today. i have since received a confirmation of order receipt and says that the plate will be shipped within 12 hours. nice people to talk to and it should be here next week in time to install next weekend.

Good move getting one from Jeff! He is the manufacturer, which means much better pricing, and his customer service is excellent.
Usually ships out your order the day you call him. IMO, the best quality tunnel plate out there.

Ours was waiting outside our door when I got home yesterday; will be installing it when the LG Pros go on. 3 things offhand:

1. D**n, that's a lot of bolts to torque.
2. I'm gonna drill it to run O2 wires above it (1.00" or 1.25" holes); anyone think it's going to be a b***h to drill the 0.134 inch thick ceramic-coated stainless with a hole-saw chucked in a drill?
3. Props to Jeff; there was a small delay shipping because of manufacturing issues and he kept me appraised via e-mail w/ no prompting. More than you can say for some vendors

Well worth the price and excellent service. Have his jacking pucks too which were FAR below the cost from other vendors. All great stuff.

Sounds like a lot of work cutting those holes. I wonder if you could have asked jeff to cut them in the original pattern before coating it? Of course, you would have had to wait for it, but I bet he would have done it.

Default I'm gonna install mine soon too

Is it just me,or does anyone else think you might need longer bolts if you go with the 3/8 thickness plate?

I have no idea how long the stock bolts are,but could this not be an issue??

Lots of people have done this mod,but never a mention of this

Any Feedback??

When my mechainc installed mine he said, "This will work, but they really should provide a stud kit for this."

But remember, you are removing nuts - the bolts are the part that stay onthe car (just like removing wheels). Changing those studs is a lot of work - not just longer bolts

my only concern or question is are you preventing the car from flexing when it should?

This may help, the retaining clip that you thread into is thin and only has a few female threads. Regardless of which plate is installed, the stock bolts are long enough to thread all the way through the retaining clip with threads showing on the opposite side.

Hope that makes sense

Well, can you tell I haven't done mine yet?

I have glanced at the plate before,I could have sworn they were bolts
A stud kit could be a pia

Thanks for setting me straight

Hopefully, when I get under there again,I'll figure out this retaining clip thing. Are you refferring to the nuts?Or is there a nut and a clip?

I'll figure it out when I get under there

Again, I thought they were bolts

Thanks

I installed my Elite tunnel plate when I put my LGLT's on and I didn't have to drill any holes in the plate for the 02's, are holes just required for the SS 3/8th plate. BTW, you can feel the difference.

There are (36) 6mm bolts that hold the tunnel plate in place.

Take a look at this picture. You can see the bolt threaded through the retaining clip (nut).
