I just installed the Halltech Tric with Mag-----SOTP difference. I also installed the majic box -dont know if it makes any difference. I will disconnect it later to-day and see any difference. I have not as yet did the TB bypass red hose hook ups prefer to get a reponse or any input from the forum on that hook up. The install was a little bit tricky in that the instructions that came with it and the ones on the web site for the Tric install are not the greatest IMHO:( I did this by myself with out any extra hands I sure could have used some though. The most difficult part was the hook up of the wedge filter from under side of car. It now sort of rest very close to the radiator and if you move the flex shield the filter will move with it. I dont think that this should be a problem :o any input on this flex problem would be greatly appreciated. Keep you all posted re magic box. If it was worth the extra money or not IMHO. :D :D
I agree, the install isn't the easiest when you're unsure of how to do it. But now that I've installed mine, I could install a hundered.
What you really need to do is get a hold of autotap, and find out of your engine is doing the right thing with all that cold air.
I ended up not needing the MAF tuning (what the magic box does) after looking at the autotap data.
You may wish to check your installation, the filter should be resting on the upper part of the shroud, not the lower part of the air dam.
The way you adjust this is to move the individual pieces of the TRIC and Mag in closer together for higher and out for lower.
But, make sure that there isn't any gaps in between each piece! Get them as close together as possible. The only spot I know you can't do this is between the Mag (cobra air bridge) and the throttle. You can leave a gap there. The rest of the system should be flush against each other piece.
Also, do the idle re-learn procedure, it will make a bigger difference.
You will also notice that you are going to get a LOT more power on the highway when you are moving due to the cold air.
:D :D Thanks for the input Iwill adjust accordingly  Mine is now below air dam by 3/4 of inch :o I will do the relearn to-nite  Thanks again :D
I experienced the same problems you did with the filter...it was hell to get it on, and it moves if I move the shroud. I kept thinking it would fall of, but the filter is still hanging on.
I would also recommend the pcm relearn and use of autotap to see if you truly need the magic box. I should be receiving my magic box in a few days, and hopefully it will help out some.
Thanks to both of the replies Chrislee2 and RajunCajun :seeya Only Have one question left that has not been approached yet the TBCB lines red hoses two of them  Should I or shouldn't I do it have either done it yet  Thanks again this forum rocks :D :D :smash:
Well, I live in Texas so the TB bypass sounded like an excellent idea. But since you are up North in Canada, you may need the hot fluid to keep ice and condensation from forming in the TB. If you ever plan on driving the car in the cold (at or below freezing), I would not recommend the TB bypass. Just my .02
I installed the Magic Box after my Vette kept throwing "to lean" type codes. After the install the codes went away and I could feel a little bit of extra pull.
It adds a little enrichment. Its nothing more than a fixed maf translator. It does not allow tuning for ambient temperatures, elevation, climate, etc. It doesnt grow with your mods either. All engines react differently to the same mods. You need something that will allow you to tune. Not blindly throw something at it.
Its honestly a waste of money relative to other products out there.
An easier way to install/reinstall the filter alone is to take off the center section of the air dam. It's just 4 bolts and literally takes a minute. Once it's off, it's much easier to maneuver the filter. I bolted 2 small sections of heater hose to the radiator shroud to keep the filter off the shroud too. And, being ****, I fabricated a safety harness for the filter. It's attached to the radiator shroud with Kevlar kite string. The filter has been on for 9000 miles and doesn't get loose. I take the filter off to oil it every 5000 mi.
