Replacing A/C condenser
Have a buddy with a 97 that needs a new A/C condenser according to the local Chevy dealer. He is tight on cash and would like to save a few bucks and do the swap himself but get the system recharged by a pro. I volunteered to help since he is light on tools and could certainly use a helping hand.
He has picked up a new conderser already and is ready to get started. So I am certain I know how to take it out but want to be sure about doing it correctly. I had some questions on the actual install of the condenser and getting the system working again.
1) When installing the new condenser is there anything special that I need to do to the fittings prior to reconnecting?
2) There is hole in the original condenser so I am assuming the system no longer has refridgerant in there. Is this a valid assumption?
3) Once everything is reinstalled the system will be recharged by local shop. Is there anything else I should be concerned about? I realize we are assuming the condenser is the only part that needs to be replaced.
